The Fellowshiip for Utopian Practice

Culture Push

We are thrilled to announce the Spring 2024 Open Call for the Fellowship for Utopian Practice, a unique opportunity for New York City based artists and professionals across disciplines to explore and expand the boundaries of their work in artistic practice, civic engagement, and social justice.

This program is designed as a testing ground for innovative ideas that aim to create impactful, transformative projects. This Fellowship acts as a crucible for ideas that aim to be transformative, serving artists with a blend of creative, analytical, and logistical support. Three Fellows will be selected to receive a year of support including resources, consultation, project development assistance, publication access, social media, institutional representation, and a $2,000 stipend.

For this cycle, we are excited to dedicate one of the three Fellowship slots to our fourth Climate Justice Fellowship. This year, under the guidance of our 2023 Climate Justice Fellow Nora Almeida, the theme will be ‘Points of Contact, Conflict and Convergence.’ We are looking for projects that delve into the complexities of environmental stewardship and resilience, from specific land use conflicts within New York City to the elemental interactions of natural convergences, such as the meeting of land and water, and our physical and emotional engagements with these spaces.
