United Palace of Cultural Arts – Launch and Arts Interaction
The public is invited to celebrate the launch of the United Palace of Cultural Arts (UPCA).

Learn about the new arts and cultural center in Washington Heights, where art transforms lives!

- A Heights hip-hop cipher featuring the Machine, Avalon the Dawn, and Circa ’95 (Patty Dukes and Rephstar)
- Spoken word performances by Mary Ely Peña-Gratereaux, hattie gossett, Elizabeth Balaguer, Robin Glasser, Aimee Rubinstein and Evan Shwarzbaum
- Photographer Jay Franco and the “Faces of Hope” exhibition
- A puppet show by Schattenkabinett
- Students in the WHIN Music Project
- Music by guitarist Rubén González, Michael Wimberly, and Demetrius Daniel
- Video by Led Black/Jonathan Ullman
- Performances by UP Theater Company, People’s Theatre Project, and City Boy
- Tango in the Heights
- Interactive dance finale by Organic Magnetics
