Thursdays with NoMAA – Marta Blair
Marta Blair (First prize NoMAA Uptown Arts Stroll Poster Contest 2021)
My work combines a process of transformation and addition, removal, erasure, and change. It contains layered fragments of time and materials collaging together as life itself, with the complexity of unpredictable events but also with the intentional and somehow contained fluidity that ultimately shapes our lives.
It is all about observing and tracing the surroundings in the presence of time, light, or quick memories.
I was born in Medellin-Colombia and moved to NYC in 1997.
I have a degree in Fine Arts from The National University of Colombia and a BFA in Graphic Design. I have worked in visual arts and textile design over the last 20 years.
I have been part of the Upper Manhattan community for about 20 years and so happy to be part of Cornerstone Studios since 2015.
Meet a new uptown artist or performer each Thursday at 7:30pm, or see archived episodes on NoMAA’s YouTube. Watch a performance or open studio, followed by a Q & A with the artist.
