In Residence: The Kitchen’s Dance and Process
Performances on June 3 and 4, 2023 6pm
Arts and Letters is partnering with multi-disciplinary arts non-profit The Kitchen to host Dance and Process, The Kitchen’s longest running program. Dance and Process invites emerging choreographers to develop new work through a ten-week workshop with established choreographers serving as mentors and curators. This year’s Dance and Process is co-curated by Yve Laris Cohen and Moriah Evans. The choreographers in residence are Martita Abril, Jonathan González, and Anh Vo.
DAP at Arts and Letters will give young choreographers a rare opportunity to develop works inside its gallery spaces, repurposing them as studios for a four-month residency, and as a site for final performances in early June. The partnership responds to The Kitchen’s need for space while its Chelsea galleries are closed for renovation, and furthers the American Academy of Arts and Letters’ commitment to supporting young artists.
