First Thursdays: Intro to Hand Quilting – Workshop #2
Start your weekend off early— join us for First Thursdays, a monthly workshop and networking series hosted by the Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance!
Designed to foster connections and professional growth, the series alternates between community-based and artist-focused events.
Each session provides a platform for local artists, creatives, and community members to engage, share resources, and develop skills.
Whether it’s a hands-on workshop or an educational panel, First Thursdays aims to strengthen the cultural fabric of Northern Manhattan by encouraging collaboration and support within the arts community.
Workshop #2: Intro to Hand Quilting
Join artist and designer, Josefina Hernandez for a hand piecing workshop. A space to slow down while hand stitching. During this workshop we will make patchwork blocks by hand including traditional log cabin and improvisational piecing. These works can be used to create larger projects such as quilts, gift wrapping cloths or eye pillows.

– Woven fabric remnants you may have. Note, midweight woven fabrics such as cotton and linen are easiest to patchwork
