An Afternoon of Poetry with Radhiyah Ayobami

Please join Sister’s Uptown Virtual Book Club – An afternoon with Radhiyah Ayobami author of, The Long Omen.

The Long Omen, is a blend of of ancestral stories, memoir and collective narrative. The narrator is a young mother raising her child in New York City. She opens with the story of her great-grandmother, whose experiences of assault lead the narrator on a journey to heal family and childhood wounds. Woven into this personal tale are the migration stories of the cultural and spiritual communities she explores as she attempts to find a balance between her financial obligations and her desire to travel and write. This is a story about learning to trust the vision within and finding a seed of joy in all things.
