Cecly Placenti

Cecly Placenti is the Artistic Director of Six Degrees Dance, Senior Contributor and Editor for the Dance Enthusiast, and dance educator at The School at Columbia University. Originally from Belleville, NJ, Cecly received her MA in Dance Education from New York University and her BFA in Dance from Montclair State University. She has been performing in NYC for twenty years, and as a choreographer her work has been presented at Ailey Citygroup Theater, Dixon Place, The Tank, Mark Morris Dance Center, and Queens Theater, among others. Her film work has been shown in Colorado and New York, and her annual Six Degrees of Separation showcase has brought together artists from New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island. Cecly created Motion by Degrees, an online magazine and digital platform, to spotlight emerging and under-represented artists. Cecly has been a guest choreographer and teacher at Cicely Tyson School of Performing and Fine Arts as well Raritan Valley Community College.
