WPIX 11 – NYC exhibit celebrates uptown’s female artists

WATCH THE SEGMENT HERE

NEW YORK (PIX11) — Artists help define life and people in the neighborhoods of New York City.

From murals on the streets to famous museums, their work is a part of the fabric of the city.

For Women’s History Month, an arts organization uptown is celebrating women in the Heights.

Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance is located by United Palace in Washington Heights along Broadway at West 176th Street.

This year’s theme is “dress,” and curator Andrea Arroyo is asking you to look for the different interpretations of the word in the work.

All the pieces are selected from female artists who live and work in uptown neighborhoods.

The exhibit runs through May. The gallery is free and open to the public on Tuesdays and Saturdays and by appointment.
